Today was our first trip to Melt, where you can get ridiculously large and delicious speciality grilled cheese sandwiches!  Jim had seen something about this place on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, and we had been dying to check it out.  It is only about an hour away, but an hour in the car is really hard on Jim’s back.  He wanted to brave it though, so I saved all my weekly points to use on this one meal.  It was SO worth it!

Purple Parma @ Melt

This is the Purple Parma that I ordered.  It has breaded eggplant along with marinara, garlic, provolone cheese, & romano cheese. It was delicious and I didn’t feel guilty for a second!  The sandwich was so huge that I didn’t even feel the need to eat it all, so I took half of it home for a friend.  The old me would definitely have eaten the whole thing, but I was satisfied with half!  I never listened to my body before. I just kept shoveling it in.  Now I try to remind myself that this is not my only chance EVER to eat this food.  I can go again if I want it again!

Of course I didn’t know how many points this was, but I knew that I had saved my whole weekly allowance and was exercising regularly, so I figured I was safe.  It’s nice to be able to have splurges like this and know that it’s okay.  I didn’t feel like I was depriving myself during the week.  I was consciously choosing to save my points for this!  Anytime I was tempted, I thought “save it for Melt!”  And I’m glad I did.
