Frozen Yogurt

I’ve recently discovered that I really like frozen yogurt.  I don’t mean the kind in the ice cream section either.  I mean an actual 6 oz container of yogurt that you put in the freezer.  It happened by accident one day…  

The fridge at work was set too cold and my yogurt was partially frozen.  I was a little annoyed at first because I had intended to mix fresh blueberries into the yogurt, and it wouldn’t really mix because it was partially frozen.  A co-worker commented that it looked like ice cream and that really changed my perspective about it! I put the semi-frozen yogurt on top of the blueberries and had a wonderful food adventure.

Since then, I’ve tried it a few times with several different flavors and I have not been disappointed!  I buy the Weight Watchers brand yogurt because it has 3g fiber while most yogurts do not, but I assume it should work with the other kinds too!  I will say that you should only freeze it for about 2 hours and then put it in the fridge for an hour or two for ease of eating.  I froze mine too long the other day and then it was like rock hard ice cream.  It was still good but not as easy to eat.   I just had to thaw it at room temperature for a few minutes before I could start.  You may prefer it more or less frozen than me.  Give it a shot and let me know what you think!

I like that it takes me longer to eat.  I like that it feels more like a dessert.  I like that it is icy yet creamy.  I like that it’s better for me than ice cream but still gives me the sensation that I’m really having a treat.  I don’t know if I’ll ever eat yogurt straight from the fridge again!
