Fall Trail Running Series

I’m just feeling so brave these days!  My running inspiration (Melanie) and I have signed up to participate in the 2010 Fall Running Series in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  It is a trail running series and is one of a kind!  It is once a week for 5 weeks in October.  Each trail run begins at a different location and the distance ranges from 3 to 6 miles.  

The part that freaks me out (and they say adds to the fun), is that the race details are a secret until you show up for the run.  That does not sit well with someone who likes to plan and know what to expect.  Buuuuuuuuuuut, this is about getting out of my comfort zone and growing, so I’m doing it anyway.  I’m so grateful Melanie is doing it with me because I don’t think I’d have the nerve to do it alone.

Given that it is October, many of the races will be finishing (or completely) in the dark, so that should be interesting.  And I’m also guessing it could be pretty cold.  And then there’s the danger of tripping on trees and various other nature objects…

Have any of you ever competed in a running series like this?  What did you think? Love it or hate it?
