I didn’t do well sticking to my running schedule last week!  I let other things get in the way, and I kept saying “I’ll do it tomorrow” over and over!  I definitely could have and should have made time over the weekend but I didn’t.  Technically I should be in week 8 now, but instead I’m finishing week 7 and maybe starting week 8…

I wasn’t about to let another excuse get in the way on Monday, so I had my husband monitoring the weather.  We were expecting the rain to start around 6:30-7 pm.  I usually get home from work around 5-5:15, so that meant I had to get changed and get right outside if I hoped to beat the rain.  I don’t care about getting wet, but I WOULD care about my phone getting wet!  😉

  • Walk 5 minutes to warm up
  • Run 25 minutes
  • Walk 5 minutes to cool down

I ran in the park, and it was beautiful and sunny.  It was surprisingly hot for April!  I seem to have trouble pacing myself outside.  I averaged a pace of 11:21.  I ran mile 1 in 11:09, and I ran mile 2 in 12:25. I was consciously telling myself all during mile 2 to run slow and steady so that I didn’t quit.  I didn’t realize I had slowed down THAT much.  🙂

The run felt challenging but totally possible.  My legs felt fine, but my energy level wasn’t the best.  I was totally channeling my friend Michelle who said (after her latest 1/2 marathon) that “you can drag yourself 2-3 miles on sheer will.”  I kept thinking if she could push herself to run 13.1 miles, I could certainly finish my two miles!  Thanks for being an inspiration Michelle!

I’m planning to run W7D3 on Wednesday.  I shouldn’t say planning. I should say I AM DOING IT.  I’d like to get outside for it Wednesday morning but I’m not sure if that part is feasible.  Regardless of the weather, I will run. That’s why I have a treadmill – no excuses!

Are you ready to get active?  What’s stopping you?  Reasons can become excuses if we aren’t careful…make being active a priority!

      Thanks. I really do KNOW that I can do it but my brain tries to sabotage me sometimes!!
